💬 Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda believes that the gas transit contract for Russia’s Kaliningrad region should be extended. “I don’t think we should provoke Russia here because we need to resolve the transit issues that have arisen naturally,” he explained, emphasizing the importance of maintaining normal communication with Kaliningrad.

🔄 According to him, creating artificial crises could only lead to escalating the conflict, and thus, tensions over transit should be avoided.
🤝 In 2025, Lithuania will hold negotiations with Russia and the EU regarding the extension of the natural gas transit contract through Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region.
📅 The current 10-year contract, signed at the end of 2015 between the Lithuanian operator Amber Grid and Gazprom, expires at the end of 2025. A previous contract was signed in 1999. In April 2022, Lithuania stopped importing Russian gas, leaving only transit through its territory to Kaliningrad.
