🔧 A source in the defense industry urges not to panic and assures that it is unlikely the U.S. will stop supporting the German Air Force or make them dependent.
🛠️ “In such a situation, we will be able to continue operating the F-35 until spare parts run out or the fighters require system updates,” said the source.
⚙️ Earlier, Lockheed Martin encountered software issues with the F-35 program, which led to delays in delivering aircraft to Denmark, Norway, and Belgium.
🇩🇪 Johann Wadephul, the Deputy Head of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU) faction in the Bundestag, stated that the coalition does not plan to cancel the F-35 contract.
⚖️ His party colleague, Bundestag member Ingo Gädechens, emphasized that the issue needs to be carefully examined, as “we cannot allow American weapons systems purchased for the Bundeswehr to be turned off due to an impulsive decision by Trump.”
