According to the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KMIS), 31% of respondents consider the sanctions against Poroshenko an attempt by the authorities to distract public attention from the situation at the front. Another 24% of those surveyed see it as an effort to neutralize the opposition ahead of negotiations with Russia and elections, 27% view it as law enforcement’s efforts to punish the guilty, while 19% could not provide a definitive answer.

Who is the leader of the opposition in Ukraine?
In addition to the issue of sanctions, Ukrainians shared who they consider the main opposition politician. Respondents were given a list of six public figures or could name their own option.
56% of those surveyed were able to choose a public figure from the list, i.e., someone they consider a leader of the opposition. The most votes went to Petro Poroshenko – 24%.
Among other public figures considered opposition leaders were Serhiy Prytula (9%), Yulia Tymoshenko (8%), and Dmytro Razumkov (7%). Yuriy Boyko and Oleksiy Arestovych are considered opposition leaders by only 3% of respondents.
At the same time, 16% of respondents believe that there is no real opposition in Ukraine, and another 2% stated that there are several opposition leaders.

In addition, the majority of surveyed Ukrainians have a positive opinion of the work of the “European Solidarity” faction – 35% believe its activities are beneficial to Ukraine, while 34% think it mostly hinders development.

The survey was conducted from February 2 to 6, 2025, in the format of telephone interviews. A total of 1,000 citizens aged 18 and over, residing in government-controlled areas of Ukraine, were surveyed. The statistical margin of error for the most common answers does not exceed 4.1%.
