📉 In the first four months of 2025, the Russian army is moving more slowly, but its losses remain consistently high. According to the Institute for the Study of War, Russia loses 99 soldiers for every kilometer of captured territory.

🌍 From January to April, the invaders advanced by 1,627 square kilometers, including in Ukraine and the Kursk region. However, during this period, their losses amounted to 160,600 people.
📊 Compared to September-December 2024, when Russia captured 2,950 square kilometers, their losses then amounted to 174,935 soldiers, equating to about 59 killed and wounded per kilometer.
⏳ The pace of advance has slowed by nearly half, and the cost of each kilometer has significantly increased.
🏙️ One of the main reasons for the slowdown is the well-fortified positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, particularly in Kupiansk, Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, and Pokrovsk.
💥 Despite this, the intensity of offensives has not decreased. Russia continues to maintain offensive pressure by quickly replenishing losses, throwing poorly trained soldiers onto the front lines.
⚔️ This allows them to maintain the pace of attacks but complicates the execution of complex operations. The Kremlin relies on quantity rather than the quality of its troops.
💡 Analysts suggest that Russia seeks to use even minimal gains for political pressure, trying to drag out peace talks and force concessions from the West and Ukraine’s capitulation.
